Fred and Mick, two old friends, are on vacation in an elegant hotel at the foot of the Alps. Fred, a composer and conductor, is now retired. Mick, a film director, is still working. They look with curiosity and tenderness on their children’s confused lives, Mick’s enthusiastic young writers, and the other hotel guests. While Mick scrambles to finish the screen- play for what he imagines will be his last important film, Fred has no intention of resuming his musical career. But someone wants at all costs to hear him conduct again.

The Violin Teacher

After failing to be admitted into the renowned São Paulo Symphonic Orchestra, Laerte, a talented violinist, is forced to give music lessons to teenagers in a public school in Heliopolis, the biggest favela in Brazil. His path is full of difficulties, but the trans- forming power of music and the friendships that arise between him and his students, opens him up to a new world. Based on a true story.

The Farewell party

The Farewell Party is a tender black comedy about friendship and the difficult moment of farewell. Thanks to the fine-tuning of the two Israeli directors Tal Granit and Sharon Maymon the issue of eutha- nasia is treated with sensitivity and humour. The amazing performances, the living dialogues, the ingenious script and the compassionate, humane and inclusive look of the characters, highlight the movie as a touching, with strong doses of laughter, cinematic experience.

Embrace of the Serpent

EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT tells the epic story of the first contact, encounter, approach, betrayal and eventually, life-transcending friendship, between Karamakate, an amazonian shaman, last survivor of his people and two scientists that, over the course of 40 years, become the first men to travel the Northwest Amazon in search of ancestral knowl- edge. Inspired by the journals of the first explorers of the Colombian Amazon, German ethnologist The- odor Koch-Grunberg and American botanist Richard Evans Schultes.

Mythopathy

Mythopathy is a bitter sweet comedy, about the coming of age of a young man who encounters his first emotional and sexual experiences with women, during the seventies in Greece. Changing the Myths and creating his own version of the stories to serve his wants is what makes him special among his classmates, family and girls.

Mediterranea

Two African immigrants, Ayiva and Abas , arrive in Italy in the hope of finding a better life, but instead encounter resentment from the locals. The two friends are filled with idealistic notions of Italy, only to quickly discover a harsh reality: They are forced to live in makeshift settlements, and although they are able to find jobs packing fruit, they have difficul- ty obtaining the official papers that will allow them to stay in the country. The men also face racial ten- sions in the community that escalate into violence.

Εl Clan

On the surface the Puccios live like most families. Arquímedes (Guillermo Francella) presides over a modest household where his wife, sons and daugh- ters gather most evenings over home cooked meals to discuss their days. Eldest son Alejandro (Peter Lanzani) is a star rugby player who is manipulated into helping his father carry out the meticulously planned abductions. But when kidnapping turns to murder, Alejandro must finally face the truth that his father, his hero, is a cold-blooded killer.

Truman

Julián receives the unexpected visit of his friend Tomás, who lives in Canada. Their reconnection,
the first one after years will be their last one too. Being diagnosed with a serious disease, Julián has decided that he doesn’t want any treatments. He wants to take care of his inheritance, his own funeral and most importantly to find a home for his beloved dog, Truman. This last act breaks his heart. The two friends, along with Truman, will share emotional and surprising moments during this four intense days.

Suntan

The Labyrinth of Lies

Frankfurt 1958. Νobody wants to look back to the time of the National Socialist regime. Young public prosecutor Johann Radmann comes across some documents that help initiate the trial against some members of the SS who served in Auschwitz. But both the horrors of the past and the hostility shown towards his work bring Johann close to a melt- down. It is nearly impossible for him to find his way through this maze; everybody seems to have been involved or guilty.

In an Albanian village, Hannah decides to escape from her destiny and invokes the unwrit- ten law Kanun. She is now living as a ‘sworn virgin’ named Mark, equally with men. Years later she starts a journey to Italy looking for her married sister.
